Questions

Open Roman shades, explained.

What makes Open Roman Shades different from regular Roman shades?

Lattice shades have built-in horizontal fabric bands across sheer or light-filtering fabric, giving a structured yet soft appearance. Traditional Roman shades use solid fabric that folds evenly but lacks the sheer, layered effect of lattice designs.

What is the warranty coverage?

Our shades are covered by the Shadeotech limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship: motors and controls for 5 years, and fabrics for 5 to 10 years depending on the fabric. Be sure to register your shades to be eligible for any warranty claims.

Do Open Roman Shades offer privacy?

Yes, when fully lowered, they offer excellent privacy while still letting in soft natural light. They are perfect for living rooms, dining areas, or bedrooms where you want a light and airy atmosphere without full exposure.

How long will installation take?

Installation time depends on the number of windows and how level they are. For an entire home, installation typically takes 4–5 hours. Please ensure an adult is present during installation and that the walkways to the windows are clear for our team.

Will there be gaps on the sides?

Yes, a small sliver of light will be visible on both sides due to the shade’s operating mechanism. In Texas homes, where walls are often not perfectly straight, we take measurements from the narrowest point to ensure a proper fit, which may result in slightly larger gaps. If this is a concern, you can opt to have your shades installed using an outside mount.

Can I schedule them to open and close automatically?

Yes, with smart motorization, you can set timers and create routines to have your shades open with the sunrise and close in the evening—adding convenience and enhancing comfort.

Are Open Roman Shades easy to clean?

Yes. They require minimal maintenance—a simple dusting or occasional pass with a vacuum's soft brush attachment will keep them looking fresh.

Do Open Roman Shades help with glare or UV protection?

Yes. The sheer fabric filters sunlight, reducing glare and protecting furniture and flooring from UV damage while maintaining a soft, elegant glow.

How do I clean and maintain Open Roman Shades?

Gently dust or vacuum with a brush attachment regularly. Spot clean with mild detergent as needed, and always follow the manufacturer’s care guidelines.

Can I upgrade to motorization later on?

Yes, you can upgrade your shades to motorization at any time. Our technicians will visit your home to install the motor and complete the programming on-site. Please note, there will be an installation fee if the upgrade is done at a later time, but it's included if you opt for motorization during your initial order.
